Status Quo

Looking at the current situation in receivables management, we can look back on one of the longest economic upswings in recent decades. Since 2009/2010, the number of corporate insolvencies has steadily declined. Credit risk, bad debt and working capital were topics for companies that were generally 'well positioned' anyway and wanted to make further optimizations in the financial area.

With advancing digitalization, increasing competition - increasingly from the international arena - and fewer and fewer skilled employees to process accounts receivable & receivables, the pressure on the finance organization has steadily increased. Due to decreasing margins, partly during strong phases of company growth, companies are exposed to increasing cost pressure. Processes need to be optimized, days sales outstanding reduced, manual intervention mitigated and bad debts prevented. The technological pressure on companies and especially on the finance organization is growing and competition is on the move.

Current Challenges

Against the backdrop of the acute international situation caused by COVID-19, it is hardly possible at the current time (April 2020) to estimate what consequences the crisis will have on companies as a whole. However, it can be predicted with certainty that the liquidity of companies will become an even more important management and success criterion in the coming months and years. Companies will generate competitive advantages if they can maintain their flexibility and respond quickly to market conditions. Entrepreneurs and managers increasingly want and need to "fly on sight." They need a digital assistant that provides effective and efficient steering support when navigating the "risky terrain".

A few years ago, the portal Forderungsmanagement caught our eye with the Bilendo platform. At that time still a young start-up, we were quickly convinced by the idea and the innovative power of the company. Since then, we have been keeping a close eye on the innovations and impulses coming out of the Munich-based IT company.

The Approach with Bilendo

Today, Bilendo has grown into a truly comprehensive credit management solution. The approach of cloning the customer's accounting and setting up the processes there is not new in itself. The way Bilendo handles services ranging from accounts receivable management to receivables management, including automatic dunning runs and dispute management, is all the more innovative for it. The simple user interface, the quick setup, the consistent focus on individual risks (individual receivables) and the interaction of the individual components generate real added value for customers and users. Also particularly noteworthy with Bilendo is the scalability of the service offering across the entire size range of companies. Millions of small and medium-sized companies as well as large international corporations can use Bilendo's credit management solution to increase their success.

Outlook

The next few months will be dominated by the current events surrounding the Corona crisis. It will become clear which companies will survive the crisis and in what condition. Those that have already acted with foresight in the run-up to the crisis, converted their IT to cloud applications and automated and made processes flexible, already have a tangible competitive advantage today and will continue to do so in what may be a difficult environment in the future. Digital solutions like Bilendo are part of the portfolio of a modern finance organization, now and in the future.
